Whoa it’s my first official monthly newsletter! Thanks so much for being here for this cool milestone ♡ I’m very excited to play around on this new platform and see what I can do with this space.

February is usually a slower month for me in a lot of different ways, but Valentine’s Day is my favorite holiday! So, I can’t help but love this month. There isn’t too much planned, but I am hard at work preparing for the upcoming market season. I’m so excited to get back out there and see all of your lovely faces again, and I have so many fun things that I am looking forward to 🥰
If you’re looking for something special for your valentine, my shop has a lot of cute little goodies, and there is also still time to commission something even more unique! You can take a look at my commission guidelines here.
Place your orders or reach out to me before February 7th to ensure Valentine’s Day delivery 💘

In case you hadn’t heard yet, March 28-29th I am hosting my first art show alongside my amazing studio mate, Michelle, over at the Saniwax Gallery at the Park Trades Center. We hope that you will join us at Clown Alley for a two-day show celebrating silly guys!
Visit the Clown Alley website for more information about the show, including how you can submit your own clown artwork! We are looking for whatever kind of artwork you want to submit, as long as it relates back to clowns.
Submissions are due March 14th.
Recently, I’ve been trying to push myself and my printmaking to be more dynamic, in both composition and execution. I really wanted to challenge myself for Clown Alley and create something different from what I normally create. I decided I wanted to do a scene, and from there I somehow decided I wanted to carve a (clown) knight slaying a (clown) dragon.
I’ve been looking at a lot of woodcuts from medieval and Renaissance artists for inspiration, both in subject matter and technique. In particular I had a book of the complete woodcuts of Albrecht Dürer, and I was very delighted to stumble across this piece by him that was what I had been imagining in my head for my piece for Clown Alley.
Once I saw this piece it was easy for me to know what I wanted to do with my own parody of it for Clown Alley. This isn’t the largest piece I’ve done (that would be my steamroller print I made last September), but it is definitely the most intricate thing I have planned to carve.
I’m extremely outside of my comfort zone now, but I’m so excited for the challenge and I will keep y’all updated along the way ♡
